The role of networks in European territorial cooperation: Latin Arc at the “Var Europe” seminar

The Latin Arc Executive Secretary participated in the “Var Europe” seminar held last June 28-29 in the French department of Var. Technical and political representatives of local and regional administrations, entrepreneurs and academics also took part in the event.

The event served as a platform for networking where attendees had the chance to exchange experiences in the elaboration of EU projects. These workshops were also a good opportunity for institutions to share their funds management strategies (FEDER, FSE, FEADER).

The Latin Arc Executive Secretary presented the network’s main strategic lines for 2020 whose priority is to promote transnational cooperation in the Mediterranean. In this vein, the network seeks to create a “project laboratory” with the goal of strengthening transnational cooperation between local administrations.

The Girona Provincial Council presented its EU funds management strategy stressing the importance of the Latin Arc network in the elaboration and development of cooperation project proposals. Moreover, the Girona delegation shared their experiences in the elaboration of the BIOMadapt project, which deals with the issue of governance in the management of forest biomass. Funded by the Latin Arc’s internal call for projects, the BIOMadapt project has gone on to pass the first evaluation phases of the Interreg Med Programme succesfully.
